FIVE CONTINENTS

About Five Continents

detail of Five Continents

Starting from interviews with people from around the world, asking them about stereotypes of race, dialect and epistemology, I sketched some imaginary situations. Then, I divided those sketches into five groups and I mixed the sketches to get five compositions.

It was an interactive work because of the help of those people while deciding how to mix the sketches.

For this project, I used the conical perspective and complementary values in the palette of each painting in order to homogenize the paintings despite the thematic differences.

I have separated the world into something as random as dividing it into five continents to represent the absurdity of limiting Knowledge due to geopolitical stereotypes.
